The laws for using AI / LLM

By | 19 בינואר 2025

1. Do not even begin using LLM tools if you cannot assess their outputs.

2. The power law of LLM users, which is a continuation of the first law:

2 ^ 2 = 4
With the help of LLM tools, strong people will double their abilities. They know well what and how to ask, know how to assess the outputs and adjust their prompts. With LLM, they get better and faster results than if they would without LLM tools.

1 ^ 2 = 1
Mediocre people who use LLM will remain mediocre. They half know how to ask and half know how to assess the outputs.

0.5 ^ 2 = 0.25
Lazy people who use LLM will reduce their abilities by half. They are promised "magic" but they do not know how to use the magic well and receive outputs that they cannot or are too lazy to assess. One example are students submitting papers written by LLMs and failing themselves. Another example is lawyers submitting papers to courts written by LLMs that include non-existent references.

3. The Dunning-Kruger effect dictates that people will overestimate their abilities to successfully use LLM tools.
